Planetary Pinion System Simulation

In this project, I conducted FEA analysis and acquired the max stress, pinionshaft slope and the endurance of the system. Base on the results, I modified the system so that the endurance of the pinion increased by 30% and the slope of the pinion shaft decreased by 10%

 

• The assembly was built in NX.

• The assembly was meshed in Hypermesh with simplified pinion . 

• With loads and constraints applied, the model is imported to Abaqus and the simulation was conducted.  

• Made comments on the design in terms of stress analysis, fatigue analysis and pinionshaft slope analysis, and then modified the system by changing material and design parameters

A planetary pinion system is built in NX. To simplify the structure and analyse the pinions, the ring gear and the sun gear are omit in the second picture.

Analyzing loading and boundary conditions, then established CAE mesh work in HyperMesh.Export inp.file to Abaqus simulation.

Conduct the stress analysis and fatigue analysis; acquire the slope of the pinion shaft by analyzing the data.file. Modify the system so that the endurance of the pinion increases by 30% and the slope of the pinion shaft decreases by 10%
